Mountain Safety Research (MSR), a manufacturer of outdoor equipment since 1969, has named Evan Williams to the role of mechanical design engineer. In this role, Williams will design products and develop technology for outdoor, global health and military applications.

Williams joins MSR after nearly two years as mechanical product development engineer at PATH, a leader in driving global health innovation. In his previous role, Williams identified and invented solutions for low resource settings around the world. A key development partner for MSR, PATH provides MSR with critical field expertise and channels for product testing and implementation.

“Evan has a great combination of engineering fundamentals and creativity, which will allow him to be a strong contributor to our outdoor, global health, and research and development projects,” said Phil Hitch, director of product development, MSR. “We are very excited to have him join the MSR product development team.”

Williams has more than 13 years of experience and education in engineering and research. The MSR product and development team draws on nearly 50 years of experience and works closely with military research agencies and world-class development partners to produce and customize integrated systems that meet basic and essential worldwide needs: food, water, and shelter.

Future technologies in development at MSR that Williams will contribute to include personal desalination devices to create drinking water from seawater, low-cost hand washing stations for remote communities, and high-volume chlorine makers for sanitation in health clinics.
