Michael Glavin has been named Vice President of Marketing for Mountainsmith. In his new position, Michael will be responsible for development and implementation of the company’s product lines, for new business growth, and for management of the Mountainsmith brand. He will also be an integral part of the company’s management team for all other areas of Mountainsmith business. The announcement was made by Greg Thomsen, CEO of Pacifica DesignWorks and president of Mountainsmith.

Michael’s most immediate task is to ensure the continuing momentum of the company’s existing product categories and to drive the marketing services programs that support and differentiate the Mountainsmith brand including advertising, promotions, trade shows, and collateral materials. In addition, he will actively explore and expand into new active-lifestyle product categories and market segments that will maximize growth while maintaining the integrity of the brand.

“The addition of Michael to our team reflects the importance we put on increasing the company’s bottom line without compromising the customer loyalty that we have worked so hard to build,” commented Thomsen. “He will be a strong asset to our existing and forward- thinking design and sales team.”

Glavin comes to Mountainsmith from Cascade Designs where he was most recently Director of Marketing after holding the position as Director of Sales and Marketing for MSR. In both positions, he gained extensive knowledge of the specialty outdoor market and a unique understanding of brand positioning and product differentiation. “My goal is to supply our existing and future retailers with the advantage of having branded Mountainsmith products at pricing and margins that can best maximize their shop image, specialty positioning, and sales goals.
