Mountain Hardwear will open its first retail operation in the United Kingdom in Glasgow, Scotland this Saturday in the form of a 200-square-foot ‘store in store’ within an existing Cotswold shop in the West End Retail Park.

“We now have a dedicated UK operation for the first time, including a showroom in Kendal, and launching a retail presence is the natural next step,” said Mountain Hardwear’s UK Country manager, Anthony Emmet. “Glasgow is a fantastic gateway to some of the best outdoor adventures in the Scottish mountains and and this location will be a great way to showcase our products.”

On hand for Saturday’s grand opening will be Tim Emmett, an expert in ‘para-alpinism’, a style of climbing that involves free-fall from a summit wearing a wingsuit. Emmett recently returned from a month long expedition to the Trango Towers in the Himalayas, where he tackled some of the largest cliffs and most challenging rock climbing in the world. Emmett will be on hand to give some expert advice and present his experiences from “The Untouchables” project on Scotland’s steepest crag Sron Ulladale. Emmett, who ice climbs, also recently returned from Helmcken Falls in Canada where he became the first person ever to climb the world’s most dangerous ice climb.

“We believe customers will particularly like the award winning technology the product team has worked hard in delivering.. These products have been enabling our athletes like Tim to push the boundaries, we can now share these advances with everyone wanting to enjoy the great outdoors whatever their ambitions. ”
