Moots Cycles of Steamboat Springs, CO, said Rob Mitchell has joined the company as president.  Mitchell will be responsible for overseeing all areas of the company including strategic planning, product and marketing, sales, operations, and finance.

Mitchell assumes the role of president previously held by Moots’ owner Chris Miller.  Miller will remain as owner and continue to serve as Chairman of the Board.

“We are very pleased to have an industry leader like Rob on board as president,” said Miller.  “His success and ingenuity growing the SmartWool and NIKE brands is most impressive.  Rob’s proven leadership will be instrumental as we achieve our long-range business goals.  He’s an incredible resource for our small company.”

Mitchell brings more than 18 years of executive experience with global brands to Moots.  Rob served as Smartwool’s Vice President of Product and Marketing from 2003-2006 during which time he played a lead role in driving brand expansion and overall global growth.  Additionally, he has held senior management level positions at NIKE, IMG, and Mossimo.  Most recently, Rob has been an independent consultant providing consumer branded companies with guidance in developing company-wide strategic plans and brand strategies while also serving as an executive coach.  Moots retained Mitchell as a consultant in January 2007.

“Maintaining Moots’ commitment to superior quality while exploring new technologies and designs and enhancing the support of our dealer network are priorities,” said Mitchell.  “Moots Cycles has a deep-rooted history in cycling supported by an exceptional team of cyclists dedicated to building the finest titanium bikes on the planet.  I’m honored to be part of the team.”

An outdoor enthusiast, Rob enjoys mountain and road biking, rock climbing, surfing, and telemark skiing.  Rob also serves as Vice President of the Board for First Descents, an organization committed to helping young adults overcome the emotional aspects of cancer.
