MontBell America, a wholly owned subsidiary of MontBell of Osaka Japan, has landed a new distribution facility in Boulder, CO. Currently, the product line has been coming out of their retail store location on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, the same place their corporate offices are located.

Nels Larson, retail store manager for MontBell told BOSS, “The bulk of our corporate offices and the entire distribution center will move to our new facility which is only ten minutes away.” The 7,000 square foot facility located at Wilderness Place in Boulder, CO will serve as a distribution and service center for its own retail operation and retailers in the U.S. market. This facility will also function as its North America corporate office.
“We are growing at a reasonable rate and being selective with how we expand. We want to focus on developing the company within Colorado – we really want to be know as a Boulder Company,” said Larson.

While MontBell is the largest outdoor manufacturer, distributor, and retailer in Japan and Asia, they currently have about 20 dealers in the U.S., including REI. “There are new dealer inquiries every day, with talks going on in Canada as well,” said Larson.

Isamu Tatsuno, founder of MontBell and president of MontBell America said, “It only makes good sense to be able to respond to changing market needs as quickly as possible and servicing customers directly. Boulder is a very competitive location but allows us to gauge the needs of the US outdoor market very well.”

>>> That’s the understatement of the year. Boulder is to performance companies what NYC is to performers. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. Does Boulder need a song???
