GSI Commerce Inc. has become the new, full-service e-commerce solution provider for Major League Soccer (MLS) recently re-launching the league's Web store at mlsgear.com. With the addition of MLS, GSI provides e-commerce solutions for nearly every major professional sports league in the United States, including Major League Baseball, the NFL, the NBA, the NHL and NASCAR.

MLSgear.com includes officially licensed merchandise from all 14 MLS teams including, jerseys, shorts, hats, outerwear and other apparel, soccer equipment and accessories, books and videos, collectibles and memorabilia and gift cards. Added convenience provides fans with the ability to shop by team, brand, new arrivals and hot sellers.

“GSI's experience working with the online businesses of professional sports leagues is unparalleled in the e-commerce industry. Our fans will experience a better, all-round online shopping experience now that the MLS Web store is operating on a more efficient and state-of-the-art platform,” said Stu Crystal, vice president, marketing and consumer products for Soccer United Marketing. “We look forward to growing MLS' online business with GSI as our e-commerce partner.”

GSI re-launched the MLS online store early in February and is providing the site with Web technology, order processing, fulfillment and customer care.

“We are very proud to add Major League Soccer as an e-commerce partner and we look forward to supporting the MLS brand and serving the league's growing base of dedicated fans around the country,” said Damon Mintzer, executive vice president of sales for GSI Commerce. “The success of the MLS launch is emblematic of the leadership position we have earned in delivering high- quality, end-to-end e-commerce solutions for direct-to-consumer businesses.”

MLB Advanced Media L.P. (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, and GSI have an agreement with MLS to operate its Web store. MLSgear.com was scheduled to launch on the GSI platform later this spring; however, to take advantage of advanced security features, MLS accelerated the migration and launch onto GSI's platform in February.
