Mizuno's Wave Elixir running shoe has been awarded the “Best Debut” award, while the Mizuno Wave Creation 7 takes home the “Best Update” award from Runners World magazine, in their March 2006 Shoe Buyers Guide.
The “Best Debut” honor goes to the shoe that the Runners World editors believe is the best new shoe being released to market in the near future, and the “Best Update” award goes to a pre-existing model, but one that has been updated and the most improved for that season. These two awards bring the total amount of awards that Mizuno has received from Runners World magazine to an impressive 19 since 1999.
“At Mizuno we are constantly improving upon design and technology that enhances the running experience,” said Tom Elwell, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Athletic Division. “The number of Editors Choice, Best Update, and Best Debut awards that Mizuno has received from Runners World is a testament to our Global Research & Design team, the performance Mizuno running shoes provide, and the effectiveness of our patented Wave Technology.”
The Wave® Elixir is a low profile model in the support category that provides a generous amount of support, yet still weighs in at a lean 10.1 ounces. Mizuno designers were able to accomplish this leading edge weight to support ratio through the utilization of Mizunos copolymer AP Midsole in conjunction with their Wave Technology. The Wave Creation 7 features an innovative, eye catching Wave configuration in the heel area that allowed Mizuno to increase durability without adding weight to the shoe.
The Wave Creation has been a longtime favorite of neutral runners because the shoe provides the maximum amount of protective cushioning a runner can find, and the Creation 7 provides the same generous amount of cushioning as previous models, now with added durability. Both the Wave Creation 7 and the Wave Elixir utilize SmoothRide Engineering, the next generation in performance footwear design direct from Mizunos cutting edge Sozo Studio. SmoothRide Engineering is designed to minimize the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot through the phases of the running gait cycle by reducing shock vibration and increasing flexibility. This technology provides an extremely comfortable running experience and an even, smooth ride.
