Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) hired Allison Brownlie as its new direct marketing manager. Brownlie joins MEC from MBNA Canada, where she led the card services provider’s direct marketing and customer acquisition strategies.

“Allison brings to MEC a strong suite of business and strategic skills along with a creative sensibility that together will lend themselves to engaging members in our evolving brand as well as attracting new members to our Co-op,” said Senior Manager of Operations Gary Faryon.

As direct marketing manager, Brownlie will work to integrate MEC’s marketing campaigns across all channels, engaging members with information about the co-op’s products and services for the activities that they enjoy most. Her activities will include using social media to stimulate conversations with members, sharing entertaining and informative content, and improving customer service.

MEC, which is Canada's largest outdoor specialty retailer, has more than three million members throughout Canada, which it serves through 15 destination stores in six provinces as well as mec.ca.
