Maverik Lacrosse reached an agreement with the University of Vermont (UVM) “Catamounts” men’s Division I lacrosse mens team to wear its equipment starting in the Fall of 2009 and in the upcoming 2010 season.
The Catamounts will be wearing custom branded Maverik Maybach gloves, shoulder/elbow guards and its players will also have a choice between Maverik’s H2 and Wonder Boy shafts and the new for 2010 Vision head.
“I am very excited to be partnering with Maverik Lacrosse,” Vermont head coach Ryan Curtis said. “This company was started by guys who I know to be very passionate about the game of lacrosse. Some of the best players in the game are developing the equipment that our team will be wearing; it's an exciting step for us. As an up and coming company, I think their progression matches that of our program here.”
“We have allot of respect for Ryan and what he has accomplished at the University of Vermont,” said John Gagliardi, President and founder of Maverik Lacrosse. “Ryan has been successful in every lacrosse endeavor he has taken part in, from his All-American days playing for the University of Virginia, to anchoring defenses in the MLL and Team USA, he has always brought passion and commitment to whatever he puts his mind to. We are confident that Ryan will instill that same burning desire amongst his players at UVM. Maverik and UVM both are groups with unlimited potential, therefore, the partnership seemed to be a very logical one.”
Vermont begins the 2009-10 season with the second annual Catamount Classic Lacrosse For a Cure on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Thayer Academy in Baintree, Massachusetts. The 11-team tournament will raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
