Mammut is investing EUR 22.5 million in a global distribution center that will open next year near the German town of Memmingen. The warehouse will support the company’s growing business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan and Korea.

Initially, the new 44,000-square-meter (473,612 s.f.)facility will encompass 2,000 square meters of office space and 8,000 square meters of logistics space.  The automated warehouse, with around 120,000 carton storage locations, is equipped with a 600-meter conveyor system and nine truck docks. In total, the new building will have 35 logistics workstations and around 70 administration workstations.

Located in Wolfertschwenden, roughly 15 km from the town of Memmingen, the center will replaced all existing warehouses in Germany and Switzerland. “Concentrating warehousing operations within the EU brings benefits mainly in relation to customs procedures – avoiding double payments of duties and generally simplifying international shipments,” Mammut Sports Group said in a release. This will allow Mammut to guarantee to quickly and efficiently serve increasing worldwide demand in the future.”
