Mammut has hired Rand Whitney as their new North American sales manager. Heading up the seasoned sales force of the Mammut Sports Group, Whitney will bring his years of behind-the-desk and on-the-road knowledge and experience to Mammut’s rising brand presence.

Currently based in Fort Worth, Texas, Whitney will add his nearly 20 years of outdoor industry savvy to the Mammut team. Having most recently served as vice president of NBS Retail Buying Group, Whitney has served as an executive in both sales and marketing with Lowe Alpine, High Sierra, and La Fuma.

“I’m very excited to have Rand on board,” said Bill Supple, CEO of Mammut Sports Group USA. “He has a comprehensive range of experience – from specialty retail to field sales to executive positions in sales and marketing with a number of global brands. We have great momentum going for the Mammut brand right now and Rand will bring a welcome level of experience, strategic thinking and maturity to the position.”

An active outdoorsman, Rand is “extremely stoked. The momentum that Bill and the company have generated is truly impressive,” he said. “I'm proud to be part of the continued brand evolution.”

Citing his experience over nearly two decades witnessing the changes in the industry, Whitney went on to say, “Our retail landscape is a rapidly changing place, today.  I feel very fortunate to have worked in various aspects of the industry, developing the skills necessary in relationship building & brand stewardship. To be able to bring those skills to a team that shares a passion for gear and a deeply rooted love of the mountains…is a coming home of sorts, for me.”

When he is not steering the sales force at Mammut Sports Group, Rand will be pursuing his passions as a dedicated backcountry skier and ice-climber in his new homeland of Vermont. He also enjoys traditional archery and hiking with his dog. Whitney will be formally joining the Mammut Sports Group USA on April 9, and he and his wife will be relocating from Fort Worth, Texas to Vermont.
