Macy’s Inc. hired Tracy Preston as chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Previously, she was the chief compliance officer, chief legal officer and corporate secretary of HanesBrands, Inc. Before that, she held the same titles at Neiman Marcus Group. 

Earlier in her career, Preston held legal positions at Levi Strauss & Co. Before transitioning in-house, she was a partner at Orrick and worked at other law firms, including Latham & Watkins, Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold and Baker & McKenzie.

Preston will start with Macy’s on January 8, 2024, reporting to Tony Spring, president and CEO-elect of Macy’s, Inc.

As chief legal officer, Preston will be responsible for various legal affairs, litigation and compliance for Macy’s, Inc., including employment, real estate, credit, commercial and regulatory matters, enterprise security, and internal audit. Preston will also act as legal advisor to senior leadership and the board of directors in as corporate secretary.
