The House of Representatives zeroed-out their version of the State Side Land and Water Conservation Fund in spite of some very productive meetings on Capital Hill during OIA’s annual Capital Summit. While it is a very disappointing development for many involved with the issue, it is not entirely a surprise.

“It is pretty much what we expected from the House Bill,” said Myrna Johnson, OIA’s VP of Government Affairs, in a conversation with BOSS. “Now, we need to focus our energies on the Senate.”

Meanwhile the ‘Dear Colleague’ letters that OIA launched during the Capital Summit continue to circulate and gain momentum. 103 members of the House of Representatives have signed-on along with 42 Senators. Since the State Side LWCF allots funding for state and local governments, the OIA has started asking governors to weigh-in and ask their members of Congress for the funding with the hopes of gaining even more momentum for the bill.
