Lululemon filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that board member Rhoda Pitcher resigned from the post on August 8, 2016.

Pitcher was a symbol of controversy during the summer of 2016 when news outlet The Street was the first to question whether she was a real person. Following their difficulty getting in contact with Pitcher, other publications dug into the mystery, finding inconsistencies in the schooling recorded on her Lululemon bio.

The hunt for Pitcher came after Lululemon’s estranged founder, Chip Wilson, wrote an open letter to the board criticizing its direction, and the company’s overall slumping stock and financial performance.

Lululemon immediately came to bat for its board members and the future of the brand as a whole.

As of June 2, 2016, Pitcher had served on the Lululemon board for the longest term amongst all directors — hers beginning in 2005. Her term was set to expire come 2018.
