Lotto Sport Italia and Yuka have signed a licensing agreement for the production, marketing, and distribution of prescription glasses and sunglasses collections for the Lotto brand name. The target consumer, in keeping with the positioning of the brand name,
will be active sportsmen and enthusiasts, but will also include casual models.
Yuka Srl was founded in 2007 as the brainchild of Luigi Belloccio, determined manager with extensive experience at the helm of leading eyeglass firms, and his troupe of eyewear professionals, for the specific purpose of managing the production of Lotto brand name eyeglasses exclusively and on a worldwide level.
The two-year agreement, which will terminate in December 2009, requires that Yuka manage all the design and production phases for eyeglasses, client services, distribution, and post-sales assistance. In terms of distribution, Lotto collections will be available at all optician stores and in the leading international chains of this sector, while the business plan also calls for taking advantage of synergies with the main company, which boasts a widespread presence in more than 80 countries and will support product distribution through international partners and a considerable number of Lotto monobrand stores throughout the world.
“This new project is important for the company,” affirms Alberto Landi, Lotto Sport Italia Marketing and Communication Director, “and has a very important strategic value. Glasses are an accessory often used by those who practice sport,” continues Landi, “and with the new collections we will be able to transfer the fundamental attributes of the brand name to the glasses: a product that boasts cutting-edge technical solutions but with that touch of Italian style and originality that has always set the Lotto line apart. We are enthusiastically setting out on this new product category by completing of a portfolio of licenses that are already topping other sectors, like cosmetics, stationery, underwear and watches.”
“I am bursting with pride and satisfaction,” claims Luigi Bellocchio of Yuka, “to be at the helm of this new company and begin the adventure with such a prestigious and international firm as Lotto. I wanted to create a streamlined structure capable of reacting quickly to meet market demands and I want to aim at putting together a staff of collaborators that can offer a high level of professionalism and experience. We intend to create collections capable of satisfying even the most discriminating consumers with products that will offer an appealing combination of innovation and aesthetics.”
