Lids opened a retail concept store, Lids Hat Drop, an iteration of the LidsHatDrop.com platform launched earlier this year, in Jamaica, Queens, NY.

The store will operate similarly to its e-commerce site, offering exclusive and limited-edition product, including athlete and celebrity collabs, while working with designers and influencers on new collections.

On Fridays at 11:00 a.m. EST, the store will offer in-store shoppers first access to hat drops before the merchandise is sold on its e-commerce site starting at noon that day.

“After visiting Jamaica, Queens in 2021, it was clear that the location was ideal for our first brick & mortar Lids Hat Drop,” said Britten Maughan, president, Lids. “The area is known by headwear enthusiasts as the hat mecca of the U.S., so the location allows Lids to lean into that culture while continuing to drive trends through our exclusive releases. We’ve seen huge success with LidsHatDrop.com, but Lids is a brick & mortar retailer at its core, and this concept is yet another step in our strategy to lead the conversation and become even more ingrained in the hat community.”

The store will also sell Mitchell & Ness MLB and NBA Jerseys, Ebbets Field Flannel product and other apparel brands. The store will also house Lids’ Custom Zones offering custom embroidery on in-store merchandise.

In July, Lids opened a collegiate product-focused retail concept, Lids University (Lids U), and its largest concept store in Las Vegas in October. Lids operates other concept stores, including Locker Room by Lids and team-specific stores, including Yankees Clubhouse and Dodgers Clubhouse.

Lids partners with the NHL, NBA and Paris Saint Germain, running several of each league and team’s U.S. and international flagship stores. The company operates over 1,500 stores in North America, Europe and Australia.
