Leonard Armato, former chairman, chief executive and commissioner of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP), has joined Skechers as chief marketing officer and president of the company’s Fitness Group.
Amatao had been working as a consultant for Skechers for three months, confirmed a Skecher’s spokeswoman, Jenn Clay.
Armato, formerly a sports agent for basketball stars Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille ONeal and boxer Oscar De La Hoya, became the AVP’s chief executive in 2001 and resigned in April 2009.
