LeftLane Sports, the online retailer based in San Luis Obispo, CA, recently hosted a local screening of a popular rock climbing film while contributing to a local nonprofit. The screening of Reel Rock 12 sold out to a crowd of 700 people at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, CA and resulted in a donation of $4,000 to The Land Conservancy, which was 100% of ticket proceeds.
“We feel so fortunate to have founded our company in San Luis Obispo almost 10 years ago and to have grown locally to a team of over 100 people. We are always looking for opportunities to give back to this great community,” said Erik Fialho, co-founder and chief operating officer, LeftLane Sports.
The Reel Rock 12 screening was the first in a series of movie nights LeftLane Sports is sponsoring in partnership with the Fremont Theater that are focused on bringing outdoor enthusiast films to the Central Coast while raising money for local non-profits. This donation for The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County will be used to help fund the opening of the Pismo Preserve to the public.
In addition to funding the opening of Pismo Preserve trails, LeftLane Sports will sponsor a Discovery Day open to the public on March 25, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m that allows guests to come explore the trails all day.
“The Land Conservancy appreciates the generosity and effort made by LeftLane Sports to create more opportunities for the public to enjoy the immense beauty of the Pismo Preserve,” said Jamie Creath, outreach manager, The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County. “Local partnerships like this are vital to maintain the health and beauty of our community.”
The next movie in the series will be hosted on Friday, June 8 at the Fremont Theater. Proceeds from this film will be donated to local nonprofit organization Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers to help build and preserve sustainable mountain bike trails in San Luis Obispo County.
“This donation to The Land Conservancy will enhance visits to the Pismo Preserve, and it is just the beginning,” continued Fialho. “We look forward to bringing more films to the outdoor enthusiasts on the Central Coast, and we’re committed to continue supporting our local nonprofit organizations that are a necessary part of the county.”
