Ron Staffieri, CEO of Chattanooga Shooting Supplies (CSSI), will retire on December 31, 2022. As part of a succession plan, Bill Sumner has been appointed president effective June 30, 2022, at which time he will assume leadership responsibility for the company’s daily operations.
At the end of the calendar year, Sumner will be responsible for leading the business, reporting to its Board of Directors. Sumner is an industry veteran of 25 years, the last nine years with CSSI in key roles, most recently as vice president of wholesale.
Staffieri joined the newly-formed board of family-owned CSSI in January 2016 and was asked to become CEO in December 2016.
” I have enjoyed my six years at CSSI and the relationships developed in the company and industry. We have increased our market share and our national penetration as well as expanded our customer base due to the hard work of our team and the strength of our vendor partnerships. It has been a fun and challenging ride, but the time has arrived for me to spend more time with my family and on my personal interests, “said Staffieri.
“We are truly grateful for Ron’s contributions over the last six years. The company is stronger organizationally and has experienced exceptional growth during his tenure. We believe that Bill is the right person to lead the organization, continue its growth trajectory and build upon the company’s successes,” said Brian Hall, one of the owners and member of the Board.
Chattanooga Shooting Supplies, founded in 1977, has grown into a business stocking over 45,000 SKUs of shooting and hunting-related products to service independent dealers.
