A Los Angeles bike dealer has launched a promotion with a neighboring car dealer to encourage motorist to trade in their cars for a new bicycle.

The Santa Monica Mountains Cyclery (SMMC) in Woodland Hills launched the promotion via a press release on PRWeb.com to coincide with local gas prices topping $4 a gallon.

“It’s Los Angeles. Gas prices are near all-time highs, and the freeways are as congested as always. We want to give people the opportunity to get out of their gas-guzzling cars and SUVs and trade them for the most fuel efficient vehicle we know – the bicycle,” says David Kooi, owner of SMMC. “I’ve heard it said that cars run on money and make you fat – and bicycles run on fat and save you money. That’s never been more true.”

For a limited time from March 19th to 25th, SMMC will work with a local auto dealer, Vista Ford, and accept cars and SUVs in trade toward the purchase of a new bicycle. Consumers will head to SMMC and pick out their new, fuel-efficient bicycle. Then, they’ll go across the street to Vista Ford to have their vehicle evaluated and appraised. They trade the car to Vista Ford and return to SMMC to ride home on their new, truly carbon-friendly ride. See store for details, rules and restrictions.
