Midway through the 2010 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant retained his spot atop the league’s Most Popular Jerseys list, based on sales figures at the NBA Store in New York City and NBAStore.com.

Bryant held the top spot throughout the 2009 season as well, guiding the Lakers to the franchise’s 15th NBA title. Fellow All-Star and Cleveland Cavalier forward LeBron James held on to the No. 2 spot for the second-straight year.

The Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard appears in the Top Five for the first time, moving up seven spots to third. Chicago Bulls’ rookie guard Derrick Rose also appears in the Top Five, checking in at number four, while the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade rounds out the Top Five.

According to sales data compiled by SportScanInfo, which reflects actual product sales, Bryant and James account for seven of the top ten jerseys sold. Bryant is the leader in dollar sales, while James leads in unit numbers, due to his top-selling jersey being a youth model, which is sold at about a third of the price. Both reflect year-to-date sales numbers.

On the team side, SportScanInfo year-to-date figures show the Lakers, Cavaliers and Boston Celtic accounting for over half of all NBA Authentic/Replica Jersey sales. The Lakers, led by Bryant, make up over 25% of the league’s Authentic/Replica Jersey sales.
