Klean Kanteen named Scott McGuire as the company’s director of sales.

As an industry veteran, McGuire brings more than 20 years of experience in the outdoor and consumer products industry, working with the smallest start ups at ground level (Keen, Ahnu), as well as strong mid-level organizations (Deckers with Teva, Simple, Ugg), and most recently served as the director of equipment at The North Face.

In partnership with Jim Osgood, Klean Kanteen’s president, and the rest of its executive team, McGuire’s new role will focus on creating and driving a strategic global sales vision for the ever-expanding company. Managing international sales functions and organization, as well as global strategic partnerships, key accounts, and brand development at retail will all fall under that umbrella.

McGuire’s diverse branding and marketing experience will also serve to support the continued evolution of the Klean Kanteen brand presence, which also includes acting as a champion and advocate of the company’s mission of environmental stewardship.

“The priority for me in my first year, has been to invest in innovative, new designs that replace single use items. Our mission is to make our products so simple, practical and with outstanding performance that we inspire the world to reach for a reusable Klean Kanteen solution instead of anything that is single-use,” stated Osgood. “Finding the right sales director to contribute to that innovative development while also leading strategic international growth was a challenging niche to fill. We are confident that Scott can drive our brand to a new level and are excited to have him as the newest addition to the Klean Kanteen family.”

If his work resume isn’t impressive enough, McGuire also excels off the clock. At the age of 17, he sailed across the Atlantic and later became the first person to kayak the entire length of the Sea of Cortez. During over 2,000 days logged on the water, Scott experienced the hazards of single use products first hand due to the ubiquitous presence of plastic bags and water bottles on every body of water he paddled.

“What drew me to Klean Kanteen was the people and passion for the brand,” stated McGuire. “The commitment to the highest standards of practice and the way in which the team interacts is inviting and inspirational. Klean Kanteen feels at once like the incredibly rare and comfortable environment of connection and common purpose. As we move forward, I am energized by the potential for Klean Kanteen to further its initial impact in bottles, as well as develop new channels and products that give the consumers an alternative to the wasteful practice of disposable plastic.”
