This week researchers, doctors, scientists, and coaches from around the world will convene in Aspen for the 3rd International Congress on Skiing and Science. Klaus Obermeyer, who has made numerous developments that improve the comfort of skiers over the past 56 years, will provide the welcoming message at the event.

The Congress, which provides a forum and exchange for issues related to snowsports and physical fitness, functional sport performance, equipment development and biomechanics begins Sunday, March 28 in Snowmass Village. This year, research will be presented on Alpine and Nordic skiing, ski jumping, and snowboarding. Over 100 people are expected to attend from a multitude of nations. The event has previously been held in Austria.

Aspen local and industry ski legend Klaus Obermeyer is the perfect selection to welcome the Congress attendees and open the dialog. Obermeyer founded his namesake company with a drive and desire to make mountain sports enthusiasts more comfortable in their pursuits. Through the years he contributed several product developments – such as the double ski boot, down parka, and high-altitude sun lotion – that helped make skiing more comfortable and accessible to a wide array of people.
