Arriving at REI this January, Kelty will introduce a line of sleeping bags built for woman, by women. The women’s-specific Comfort ZIP 20 degree sleeping bag is innovative in its attention to the unique physiological and physical characteristics of how women sleep. (Hint: comfort matters.) The Tru.Comfort ZIP, MSPR $130, will be one of a limited number of REI-exclusive products provided by Kelty, and the first in its Built for Women line.
The Tru.Comfort ZIP is constructed from Kelty’s proprietary two-layer blanket system, which means women can regulate the in-bag temperature to fit their comfort or outdoor needs. A removable blanket is an exclusive feature for REI, and zips off of the bag for use around camp. If being used inside the bag, a built-in toggle keeps the blanket in place, so it doesn’t bunch.
Tru.Comfort ZIP has an oversized mummy shape, since many outdoorists prefer the comfort of sleeping on their sides as opposed to flat on their backs. Its oversized hood is roomy enough to fit a real pillow, once again promoting comfort in the backcountry. Round out the features with a comfort-tuck zipper system for venting and ThermaProTM insulation and you have optimal warmth retention.
Four different colors and patter-ways will be offered, exclusively at REI.
“Kelty’s Tru.Comfort ZIP enables women to camp with all the comforts of home,” the company said, “and is the first in the Kelty Built for Women line of products, built with fit, function and fashion in mind.”
