Kelty will be partnering with the Utah Office of Tourism to host a series of future public relations events promoting the “basecamp lifestyle.”

The basecamp lifestyle is the enjoyment of multiple activities from a single “base” campsite. While one primary component of basecamping is camping, the range of other popular basecamping segments includes multi-day gatherings such as sporting events and festivals.

Utah’s collection of basecamp destinations includes five remarkable National Parks (Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion), numerous rivers (Green, Colorado, San Juan) and lakes (Powell), and spectacular scenery.

“From our home base in Boulder to the deserts of Utah, the entire Rocky Mountain region is prime basecamping terrain,” said Kenny Ballard, president of Kelty. “There are few other places in the world that are so easy to get to, yet offer such a diverse range of outdoor adventures.”

“Utah’s unparalleled natural wonders are ideal for conveying the spirit and soul of the outdoor lifestyle. We¹re eager to spread the word about our state’s natural playgrounds, and excited to have a strategic partner like Kelty on board,” said Leigh von der Esch, managing director for the Utah Office of Tourism.

The themed media trips began this fall, with a diverse basecamping tour of the southern part of the state. The trip included a tour of Moab, a 4-Wheel drive adventure into the Needles District, camping in Canyonlands National Park, rafting in Cataract Canyon, and camping on the Colorado River. Future trips may be oriented around fly-fishing, mountain biking, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
