Schure Sports Inc./Karbon has renewed a longterm sponsorship with Dejan Kosir, 2003 World Snowboard PGS (Parallel Giant Slalom) Champion.
Kosir, 29, hails from Kranska Gora in Slovenia, and is the prominent member of the Slovenian Snowboard Team. Dejan captured the World Cup PGS titles in 2001 and 2002, and this past season won the PGS World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria. Since 1996, Kosir has stood on the World Cup winner's podium 29 times and has been in the top ten 40 times. In April, 2002, Kosir was honoured by the IOC and Eurosport with the Sportster Award in Lauzanne, Switzerland. This prestigious award is given to the most outstanding amateur athlete within their particular field.
“There is no doubt that the construction, durability, and fabric technology of KARBON apparel has made a difference in my ability to perform over the years, culminating in many championships and podium finals. I am very grateful to Schure Sports for having faith in me these last few years, and am very happy about continuing my relationship with them” said Kosir.
Dejan Kosir and the Slovenian Snowboard Team wear KARBON apparel exclusively for training and competition. Kosir continually provides Karbon's design team with product input, allowing Schure Sports to manufacture garments which truly meet the demands of the world's elite athletes.
Peter Schure, of Schure Sports Inc., having watched Kosir closely for the last few years, states that “the sponsorship of Dejan Kosir and the Slovenian team exemplifies our commitment to elite amateur athletics. Although not well known in North America, Kosir is a true ambassador for snowboarding and Karbon globally with his wins in ten countries. Kosir's vast media exposure in Europe will allow Karbon the visibility and brand recognition required to penetrate the European market.”
Having won back to back World Cup events in Mont Ste. Anne and Whistler in 2001, Kosir will again be in Canada to defend his titles this coming December. Possible public appearances will be advised.
