K2 Sports has partnered with JVC to equip its pro skiers and snowboarders with the JVC Adixxion action camera to generate videos for both company’s websites and social media outlets.

JVC will equip K2 athletes with the company’s GC-X2 Adixxion action camera to create footage that will be used to produce an ongoing series of co-branded videos that both brands will use on their websites and social media outlets.
JVC is among a host of consumer electronics brands stampeding into the action camera market in the wake of Go Pro’s phenomenal success.

“We see this as a partnership between two very similar and complementary brands,” said Karl Bearnarth, senior vice president, marketing for JVC Americas Corp.’s Consumer A/V Group. “K2 has the best winter sports athletes using the best equipment, while JVC offers the best camera for capturing the action. For JVC, this is a fantastic opportunity for us to show K2 fans just how good our Adixxion camera is while sharing with them some compelling footage.”

“K2 is excited about this new partnership with JVC and the adrenaline-pumping content that will be generated by some of the best skiers and snowboarders in the world,” said Jeff Mechura, Vice President of Global Marketing at K2 Sports. “The Adixxion platform is ideal at capturing great athlete POV footage that will put the viewer in the driver’s seat.”

The JVC GC-XA2 Adixxion (MSRP $299.95) is waterproof to a depth of 5m (16.4 ft.), shockproof to withstand a drop from 2m (6.5ft), dustproof, and freeze-resistant, all without the need for an external housing. It has a built-in LCD monitor to make it easy to review what’s been shot, and Wi-Fi for streaming to a smartphone, easy upload to YouTube and transferring stills and video to a computer.

The camera is being distributed by Wayne, NM-based JVC Americas Corp. a wholly-owned subsidiary of JVC Kenwood Corporation, which is best known for its home entertainment products for the consumer market, and video equipment for the broadcast and professional markets.
