Former multiple World Champion Juli Furtado has chosen Marilyn Price, founder of Trips for Kids, to join her select group of inspirational ambassadors for the Juliana Bicycles brand, the new women's line of mountain bikes launched by Santa Cruz Bicycles in summer 2013.

A lifelong environmentalist, social activist and member of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, Price pioneered the use of the mountain bike to help at-risk youth overcome life challenges with her founding of Trips for Kids, an international non-profit organization for underserved youth.

“For years I have admired Marilyn for her work with Trips for Kids,” said Furtado, pictured on the left in this photo with Price. “The mountain bike ride and bicycle training programs offer kids profound experiences and moments of self discovery that can help tip the balance to a healthy and productive life. I support Trips for Kids and welcome Marilyn to the Juliana family.”

“Juli's cycling history and contributions to the sport reminds me that there is no more powerful tool than the simple bicycle – universally loved by kids and adults alike – for changing lives,” said Price. “I love her new line of bikes and honored to be an ambassador for the brand.”

Furtado partnered with Santa Cruz Bicycles to launch Juliana Bicycles in May 2013 as new mountain bike brand for women. The first Juliana bicycle began life in 1999 as a single model within the Santa Cruz line. Fourteen years later, the Juliana bicycle has evolved into its own independent brand, with a 10 model line-up, consisting of five different frame designs complimented by a selection of handle bars, grips, saddles and clothing specifically designed with women, for women.

Trips for Kids is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit based in San Rafael, California. Since its founding by Price in 1988, more than 100,000 youth have participated in the program, which provides underserved youth a chance to experience the joy and challenge of mountain biking while learning valuable life skills and an appreciation for the outdoors. There are currently 82 Trips for Kids chapters across the United States and Canada, and 2 chapters in Israel.
