Johnson Outdoors received military orders totaling $11.2 million for tents with anticipated delivery in the first half of 2008.  Unfortunately for JOUT, the orders came as the company¬ís Binghamton, NY tent manufacturing operation was ramping down production in anticipation of the completion of the company¬ís existing military orders.  As a result , a ten-week ramp-up period will be required before production against the new military orders can begin.  In order to maintain current job levels and retain its workforce during this pre-production ramp-up period, the company has asked manufacturing employees to move to a three-day work week beginning October 8th.
