Johnson Outdoors received military orders totaling $11.2 million for tents with anticipated delivery in the first half of 2008.  Unfortunately for JOUT, the orders came as the company’s Binghamton, NY tent manufacturing operation was ramping down production in anticipation of the completion of the company’s existing military orders.  As a result , a ten-week ramp-up period will be required before production against the new military orders can begin.  In order to maintain current job levels and retain its workforce during this pre-production ramp-up period, the company has asked manufacturing employees to move to a three-day work week beginning October 8th.
