Johnson Outdoors announced the appointment of Sara Knies, watercraft marketing director, to the board of directors for the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation. A nonprofit organization, the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) exists to increase public participation in fishing and boating, thereby increasing awareness and appreciation of aquatic stewardship.

Were thrilled to have Sara join the Board, said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. Were looking forward to her contributions and insight in helping guide RBFF as we strive to increase participation in boating and fishing.

Im honored and excited to join the board of the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation, said Sara Knies, Johnson Outdoors Watercraft Marketing Director. The RBFF mission aligns with my beliefs both personally and professionally and I look forward to working with the board, staff and members to promote our like-minded goals.

Funding for RBFF is provided through the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, and is administered by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Current successful programs include the national Take Me Fishing campaign and TakeMeFishing.org, which provides ‘how to and ‘where to information for boaters and anglers of all ages and experience levels, and Anglers Legacy, which encourages mentors to share the gift of fishing. The RBFF also promotes National Fishing and Boating Week and works with numerous state fish and wildlife agencies to implement marketing programs aimed at increasing fishing license sales and boat registrations.

The RBFF offers stakeholders a variety of tools to help increase participation in recreational boating, fishing and aquatic resource stewardship. In addition, RBFF commissions research and develops educational material in support of its mission and stakeholders.

The next RBFF board meeting takes place May 24th in Washington D.C.
