Johnson Outdoors was the site of a roundtable discussion hosted by New York State Governor, David A. Paterson on October 26.  Due in part to its adaptation of leading edge solar technologies in Eureka! military tents, Johnson Outdoors was identified as a corporate innovator and one of only eight companies in the central New York region who were invited to participate in this roundtable.

During the discussion, Paterson met with this select group of local manufacturing executives to better understand what innovative programs they have in place to survive these challenging times, what they are doing to prepare for growth, and how the State of New York can best help them.

“It was a great honor for Eureka! and all our Johnson Outdoors' employees to host Governor Paterson's visit and business roundtable,” said Bill Kelly, vice president and general manage, Johnson Outdoors.   “In this turbulent economy, it is very reassuring  to see our Governor talking with and listening to local companies in an effort to better understand their needs and determine how government can be a partner in helping ensure their continued growth and long-term success.”

“Companies like Johnson Outdoors and organizations like AM&T (Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology) are at the forefront of the innovation economy movement.  The high-tech industry will play an integral role in driving our State into the new economy of the twenty-first century – an economy based on knowledge, technology and innovation,” New York Governor David A. Paterson said. “We need to embrace this economic evolution, and prepare ourselves to capitalize on its opportunities.”
