Johnson Outdoors named James Avery as brand manager at Jetboil, a leading maker of portable cooking systems popular with backcountry enthusiasts.

A former pro-mountain biker, Avery has 12 years of product development experience from bicycle tire manufacturers Vittoria Industries and Maxxis International, where he focused on enhancing customer experience by creating new products, and improving existing ones.  A U.S. patent holder, he appreciates good, clean design and advances in technology.

“The transition to Jetboil was easy for me,” said Avery, who was already living about 30 minutes from Jetboil’s headquarters in Manchester, NH. “I was already a customer, and the product had proven itself in my own experiences. I look forward to building upon this, and improving the experience for those who love being outside.”

Since Johnson Outdoor acquired Jetboil in November 2012, co-founder Perry Dowst has served as a senior advisor supporting strategic R&D and new products, while former VP of sales and marketing Chris Lussier has served as regional and international sales manager for Johnson Outdoor Gear brands, which include Eureka! tents, Jetboil cooking systems and Silva instruments.
