JD Sports Fashion PLC said Friday that it has appointed Suzi Williams as a nonexecutive director as the retailer continues to strengthen its board.

Williams has spent 30 years running global consumer brands and businesses for companies including Procter & Gamble, Orange, BT Group, and as a broadcaster for the BBC. As chief marketing officer at BT, she led its London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic program and oversaw the launch of BT Sport. She now combines FTSE non-executive roles with board advisory positions for technology start-ups.

Executive chairman Peter Cowgill said: “Suzi brings a significant amount of consumer marketing and management experience to the group. It is intended that, in due course, Suzi will take up the role of Remuneration Committee Chair. The appointment is a further indication of the progress that is being made to strengthen the board with the appointment of new members with extensive skills, experience and expertise.”

Williams joins other recent appointments to the board, including Mahbobeh Sabetnia, who has held an executive role with Amazon and Helen Ashton, a former finance chief at fashion e-tail giant ASOS.
