Uptown Sporting Goods in Carroll, IA is closing later this summer as its owners plan to retire, according to a report from Carroll Times Herald.
Owners Larry and Tammy Greteman attributed supply chain issues that led to restocking challenges with major athletic brands as the primary reason for the closing. The store has been open for 50 years.
“The people of Carroll have strongly supported us and that’s not just Carroll, it’s the surrounding region around Carroll as well,” Larry Greteman told the Carroll Times Herald. “We have watched a lot of kids grow up and now even some of their kids. It’s 100 percent supply chain.”
