Intersport International Corp. (IIC) appointed Pierre Irelli as chief commercial officer, the lead role in the company’s new Commercial division, assuming the position at the end of November.

IIC Board of Management and Executive Management said it has worked “intensively” on its new IIC strategy and set-up in the past few months and put a new organization in place at IIC with the headquarters of the international Intersport Group well on the way “to become a greater value provider for the National Intersport Organizations (N/Os) and its business partners.”

The new structure is based on the two pillars, “Commercial” and “Performance & Business Partners”. The Performance & Business Partners Division is led by IIC’s CFO, Christian Wille. Irelli will assume the lead of the Commercial Division.

With Irelli’s appointment, IIC said it is “fortunate to have someone who will take on the responsibility of overseeing several divisions, i.e., Category Management, Private Label Products, Digital Services, Retail and Marketing, each with its unique strengths, strong leadership and contributions.”

IIC said Irelli’s role as chief product officer at Intersport France since 2019 had seen him spearhead transformative growth initiatives in the commercial areas of the business. His leadership skills are complemented by a “rich professional background, with many achievements in the realm of commercial functions.” As CCO, Pierre will lead the execution of the company’s commercial business, which involves charting commercial strategies, nurturing alliances and steering revenue growth across its diverse offerings.

Irelli’s career in the sporting goods industry reportedly began at Intersport France in 2013 as a category manager for Team Business, following his first professional position as a category manager in E.Leclerc, the n°1 Hypermarket chain in France. At Intersport France, he rose to Football, Team Sports category manager, business unit manager, and category director for Performance.
