Interbike recently conducted a survey of its 2003 attending exhibitors and retailers to gain valuable feedback on the event. Conducted on behalf of Interbike by
International Cycle Works, Inc., the purpose of the survey was to gauge exhibitor and attendee satisfaction at the 2003 show and identify the continuously evolving needs of the industry.

In mid-December, the survey was distributed to nearly 5,000 attendees from
Interbike 2003 and generated approximately 1,000 responses. The broad survey
investigated industry sentiment on several aspects of the show, including
the new 2-day OutDoor Demo, Las Vegas as a venue, current scheduling of the
show, and the importance of educational seminars.

“The survey is just another means for us to communicate with the bicycle
industry and better understand its needs,” said Interbike show director,
Lance Camisasca. “The information obtained is hugely valuable in helping us
to provide the best business environment possible,” said Camisasca.

From the data collected, the survey concluded that show participants feel
Interbike provides a strong business forum with its expanded two-day demo
and well-structured three-day expo.

Other key findings in the survey include:

  • 95% of the respondents were satisfied with their 2003 Interbike
experience, over half of which stated they were very satisfied.

  • 80% of exhibitors opened new accounts at the show.
  • Almost half (45%) of retailers attended the OutDoor Demo.
  • Las Vegas is still the preferred location for retail attendees, with early
October remaining the preferred time for buyers to attend.

Of the participants polled, 86% of the exhibitors and 87% of the retailers
indicated that they plan on participating in Interbike 2004. As a result,
over 80% of the available booth space at the 2004 event has been reserved,
which is the most exhibit space Interbike has ever booked this early in the
season.
