InSport has been awarded a significant contract to meet the performance demands of the elite Navy SEALs. Under the contract, InSport will build the Navy SEAL’s next-generation combat clothing ensemble, known as the Protective Combat Uniform, or PCU. Seven InSport garment styles were crafted to outfit the Navy SEAL teams.

The most important trait that distinguishes Navy SEALs from all other military forces is that SEALs are maritime Special Forces, as they strike from and return to the sea. SEALs (Sea, Air, Land) take their name from the elements in which they operate. Their stealth and clandestine methods of operation allow them to conduct multiple missions against targets that larger forces cannot approach undetected. SEALs are superbly trained in all environments, and are the masters of maritime Special Operations.

Product development began with specific guidelines targeted to meet the demanding needs of the Navy SEALS. According to InSport’s CEO Eric Merk, “With decades of experience making performance clothing for marathon runners and other core athletes, designing advanced apparel to meet the specifications of the Navy SEALs extends the expertise of our company into the military. We are proud to have the opportunity to ensure US military personnel have the best equipment available to execute their mission.”

95% of InSport’s apparel is manufactured within the U.S.A, a major requirement for most military contracts. InSport clothing styles for the Navy SEALS include silk-weight boxers and t-shirts, feather-weight long sleeve crew neck and mock neck tops with matching pants, and a mid-weight top and pants. All seven garments are made of varying weights of military-specific Polartec® Power Dry®. This fabric has been used extensively by other branches of the United States Military and has proven to meet and exceed their needs in the field.

Unlike most military-specific clothing, InSport will offer these products designed specifically for the Navy SEALS to the public and other branches of the United States Military through its retailers and website at www.insport.com .

According to Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) “This contract will place InSport's high performance apparel in the hands of one of America's most advanced fighting forces,” said Wyden. “This is a great example of how the Federal government can partner with Oregon businesses to provide jobs and opportunities at home, while supporting those who preserve and protect our freedoms far away.

In addition to the benefits of the contract “it will better equip our men and women in uniform, as well as provide new jobs in Oregon.” said Oregon’s Congressman David Wu (D-1st).
