ImPACT Applications and SportsEngine are partnering to help expand the availability of ImPACT baseline testing to help identify and manage youth concussions.
ImPACT baseline testing was cleared by the FDA for home use in 2018.
“We understand the need to make concussion management accessible at all sports levels,” said Chief Executive Officer Michael Wahlster. “This joint effort with SportsEngine will help us in our mutual goal of continuing to provide athletes and their parents with safe, research-backed tools to advance the understanding and treatment of concussions in youth sports.”
SportsEngine will introduce league administrators, coaches, and players to ImPACT Applications’ concussion assessment tools and its trained provider network. In doing so, they are taking a step to encourage community leagues and teams to strengthen their concussion protocols.
“We are excited about working with ImPACT Applications as a SportsEngine Marketplace partner,” said Lance Anderson, Vice President of Enterprise, SportsEngine. “Athlete safety is one of our highest priorities so to be able to introduce a new solution that will strengthen concussion protocols and ultimately keep athletes safer is vitally important to us.”
Under this partnership, local sports organizations will have greater access to the FDA-cleared ImPACT Baseline Test. League administrators who use SportsEngine to procure tryout, season, and background screening registration forms can request information for at-home concussion baseline testing directly within the SportsEngine software platform.
The SportsEngine mobile app will also feature ImPACT Baseline Test display messages so players can sign up on the go. This can help improve the safety of youth sports by assisting healthcare providers associated with community leagues to make objective return to play and treatment decisions.
