A new management team has taken over at illumiNITE, the maker of reflective apparel for athletes.

Led by industry apparel veteran Justin McCarthy, who has held key sales positions at Nike and New Balance, the team is initially focused on making some significant changes to the back-end of the brand that retailers should begin to notice in the coming months.

But, McCarthy said there are some things at illumiNITE that need to be fixed immediately in terms of how the brand works with its dealers. “From the conversations we’ve had with dealers it’s clear that illumiNITE offers dealers and consumers a product that solves a consumer need, but it’s also clear that there are things we need to fix,” said McCarthy.

While delivery issues top the list, McCarthy said other areas of improvement have also been uncovered and are being addressed.

“To operate, especially in today’s economy, retailers need to know that when we tell them product is going to be delivered by a certain date it arrives when they expect it. In short, we need to be easier to do business with,” said McCarthy.

He also indicated that because illumiNITE has such a unique point of difference the company is committed to protecting its most important asset, its intellectual properties.

“The process that makes illumiNITE apparel reflective is a clear advantage this company owns and it’s important for our dealers to know that when they speak to illumiNITE they’re speaking to the leader in reflective technology and we plan on aggressively fighting to maintain that advantage.”
