Hypetex, a UK company that makes colored carbon fiber using sustainable colorization materials, appointed Michael Dowse, former long-time president of Wilson Sporting Goods, as a non-executive director and board member.

Dowse was a global director for Nike before becoming president and general manager of Outdoor Americas for Amer Sports, managing the Salomon, Arc’Teryx and Suunto brands.

As President of Wilson Sporting Goods from 2013 to 2019, Dowse delivered on the company’s global strategy, corporate operations and manufacturing operations across more than 160 countries. He then assumed the CEO and executive director role for the United States Tennis Association from 2020 to 2022.

Dowse will support CEO Marc Cohen and Chief Technology Officer Nigel Dunlea as they continue to expand the company’s presence in sport and other sectors worldwide. Other advisers to Hypetex include Board Chairman Neil MacDougall and former Diageo CFO Nick Rose.

Hypetex is an incredibly exciting company at the forefront of advanced composites,” said Dowse. “This sector is growing rapidly, especially in its application to sporting equipment, and I’m eager to support this growth by utilizing my network and experience.”

Cohen said: “To bring in someone of Michael’s stature and capability is a true testament to the progress that Hypetex has made. I could not imagine a more perfect addition to our board, and I’m excited to see how we grow from here.”
