HIND, a division of Saucony, Inc., announced that the Motion Sensor Bra, part of its revolutionary Performance Shape Technology sport bra collection, has been named the “hottest selling bra” in 2004 by Activa, a womens fitness gear catalog from Road Runner Sports.
“The Motion Sensor Bra has just the right amount of support, comfort and style,” said Debra Christle, brand manager for Activa Sports. “We introduced the Motion Sensor Bra in late summer of 2004 and it was our best-selling bra in the catalog. Finally, a bra that does it all for so many sizes!” added Christle.
According to the NPD Groups recently released report, Market Insights: Womens Bras 2004, womens bra sales reached $4.7 billion during the year ending July 2004, a growth of 6.4% during the same time period in 2003. Sport bra sales make up $320 million of that amount, or 6.8% of the total category. Additionally, sixty-four percent of women surveyed by NPD said bra styling and features are more important than brand name when it comes to making a purchasing decision.
The Hind team understands the style and features that compel women to select a sports bra. “Within Hind we have decades upon decades of understanding how a bra is supposed to fit and perform for different activities,” said Pam Kimball, Hinds senior director of sales who has sixteen years of experience in the bra business. “Weve combined all our years of experience and research to develop a new solution for active women.”
