Hillsound, a producer of winter traction equipment and gaiters for urban and outdoor enthusiasts, announced the addition of running athlete, Pat Malaviarachchi, to its ambassador program. Malaviarachchi is an accomplished ultra-runner and year-round trail runner, competing in four to five races annually.

“It’s not just Pat’s incredible athletic merit that makes him an excellent addition to the Hillsound team,” said Hillsound General Manager Kris Choi, “it’s his stoke, drive, and good sportsmanship that really establish him as a key player to our ambassador program. We’re honored to welcome him to the Hillsound family.”

Malaviarachchi has been a Hillsound brand loyalist for years-well before he became an ambassador. He has relied on Hillsound crampons on a variety of backcountry trails, including Hollyburn, Seymour, the BCMC trail, and Thunderbird Ridge. However, he notes his favorite trip as a recent one he ran out to Elfin Lakes in pristine windless conditions.

“I’m thrilled to become an ambassador for Hillsound as their trail crampons have opened up a world of winter running possibilities for me,” said Malaviarachchi. “They’re much lighter than snowshoes or backcountry skis and provide the easiest and fastest way to climb up packed snow covered trails. Plus, I can rip down snowy terrain with the confidence that my shoes will stick like velcro. As a seasoned ultra-runner and lover of fast and light alpine travel, Hillsound trail crampons have become my trusted snow running partner.”

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Hillsound offers a range of highly-engineered winter traction devices for a variety of categories, from winter walking to light mountaineering.
