High Sierra Sport Company appointed Scott Vermillion as vice president of product design and development as well as Rob Coughlin as senior director of sales for the luggage division.

Scott Vermillion has been promoted to vice president of product design and development for High Sierra. He will be responsible for leading the department by continuing to help develop innovative products and graphics for the company.

“Scott has shown outstanding leadership as a responsibility, not a rank,” said Bryan Kinsley, Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations for High Sierra Sport Company. “He consistently develops high product standards that reflect High Sierra’s values-excellence, partnership, integrity and commitment to the industry.”

Vermillion has worked for High Sierra for the past 15 years and his leadership with developing High Sierra products can be found throughout many lines such as the A.T. Gear Classic line. A.T. Gear Classic was the first luggage set that crossed between the sporting goods division and travel luggage markets. This versatile collection offered consumers new luggage options while still maintaining reasonable price points.

Vermillion has also contributed to the expansion of High Sierra’s current graphic design team, consisting of four product designers, two graphic designers, and one graphic design intern.

Rob Coughlin was recently selected by High Sierra as senior director of sales for the luggage division. Coughlin will maintain High Sierra’s current account base in specialty luggage, military and department stores nationwide while growing the company’s mid-level department store and mass store business. In his new position, Coughlin also will be responsible for developing new products lines for the company.

Coughlin joined High Sierra from Travelpro USA, where he worked for 10 years as the director of operations and as a senior account executive. He has developed market strategies and customer relationships, managed department store accounts, engaged in innovative product design and development, operations management, as well as lead and managed sales teams. He has also organized and conducted trade show seminars.

“Rob has a strong operational background with a distinguished track record of running highly efficient luggage accounts,” said Hank Bernbaum, president of High Sierra Sport Company. “He will serve as a key leader in enhancing the effectiveness of our luggage operations and in helping to drive High Sierra’s continued growth. Rob has done a superb job and I look forward to his contributions as a key member of our leadership team.”
