Hi-Tec Sports signed a new contract securing the Europe’s number 2 Men’s Singles Player Kenneth Jonassen. A native of Denmark, Jonassen will make his debut with Hi-Tec at the Copenhagen Masters Tournament between 27th and 29th December and is looking to recapture the form that took him to the world number 2 spot earlier in 2005.

Jonassen has come to Hi-Tec specifically with the ambition to develop innovations in the world of Badminton footwear. For many years he has thought that there must be ways to develop products that perform at a higher level than those currently available. With Hi-Tec being a world leading brand in the field of indoor court footwear this would appear to be a perfect fit.

Jonassen commented: “it’s really exciting that a large shoe company is showing interest in Badminton. For far too long sponsorship in the sport has been limited to racket and shuttlecock manufacturers, who are obviously experts in their field, but not necessarily in footwear. I am personally looking forward to the opportunity to develop together with Hi-Tec a shoe that is equal to the challenge of providing the support, cushioning and fit that elite badminton players demand”

Hi-Tec have agreed a 3-year contract with Jonassen who will also be using Pro-Kennex rackets. This will all be aiming at the Olympics in Beijing in 2008, which should be the highlight of the then 34 year olds career.
