Hestra Gloves is ushering in a new phase of investment and growth in the North American market and has appointed a new president in the region. Cotopaxi and Backcountry.com veteran James Hampton has been appointed president, North America, based out of the company’s regional headquarters in Denver, CO.
“We are excited to welcome James to the Hestra team,” said Anton Magnusson, CEO, Hestra Gloves. “With his extensive background in commercial roles within the outdoor sector, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will be critical to our growth. James will play a key role in our strategy to expand across all product categories, including sport, dress, and professional gloves, in both the U.S. and Canada. We are confident that his leadership will help us reach new heights and enhance our brand’s presence in North America.”
Hampton joins Hestra Gloves following nine years in commercial leadership roles at Cotopaxi. Before his tenure at Cotopaxi, he acquired significant experience at Backcountry.com.
“For decades, the team at Hestra has done an outstanding job of crafting exceptional gloves that have set the standard in quality and performance,” Hampton commented. “As a long-time user and supporter of their products, I am thrilled to take on this role. I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth and further expanding its presence in the North American market.”
Hampton officially joined Hestra on November 4, 2024, supported by a strong team in Denver and the team at the global headquarters in Sweden.
After a successful 20-year tenure as president of Hestra North America, Dino Dardano will retire but remain as an advisor throughout this winter season.
“On behalf of the entire Magnusson family, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dino for his remarkable efforts in establishing Hestra as the leading glove brand in the U.S. snow sports market,” offered Magnusson. “James will build on that legacy while also enhancing our market share in spring and summer sports, casual wear, and professional applications. Dino will always have a place at our table, and we wish him and his family all the best as they embrace a more relaxed lifestyle.”
