Gomez is president of the hand tools, accessories and storage group for Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. Otero recently retired from her position as chief marketing officer, e-commerce officer and strategy officer, international business at The Clorox Company.
With the additions of Gomez and Otero, Helen of Troy’s Board of Directors includes ten directors, nine of whom are independent. The Board of Directors expects to return to nine directors following the previously announced retirement of Director Gary Abromovitz, effective following this year’s annual general meeting of the shareholders.
Timothy Meeker, chairman of the board and chair of the nominating committee, said, “We are very pleased to welcome Tabata and Elena as new directors to the Board. Their appointments are the culmination of a robust search process that began several months ago and was announced at our 2021 Annual Meeting. We are committed to regularly evaluating our Board’s configuration to ensure we have the right mix of skills, experiences and backgrounds to oversee the company. Each of them brings an impressive background, has deep experience in senior positions at strong companies in the consumer goods and devices industry and has substantial international experience both personally and professionally. Tabata and Elena will each provide their valuable, current perspectives to our Board as we continue to execute our transformation strategy and work to enhance value for all Helen of Troy shareholders.”
