Alpargatas, the Brazilian manufacturing company headquartered in São Paulo, known for its Havaianas flip-flops, hired Harm van de Camp as president for its European operations based in Madrid.

Van de Camp has over 18 years of experience in the footwear and fashion industry, having worked for Nike, leading the EMEA region across wholesale and direct-to-consumer sales.

“In his role as president of Alpargatas Europe, Harm will focus on the sustainable and profitable growth of the Havaianas brand, aiming to engage consumers year-round through a comprehensive 360-degree brand approach, ensuring the brand’s continued success in the European market,” the company said.

Alpargatas’ international division, headquartered in Madrid, recently underwent a restructuring, implementing several strategic moves to foster a more efficient organization focused on international markets, a streamlined structure, and expedited decision-making processes.

Van de Camp commented on his new role, “I am thrilled to begin my journey with Havaianas, a brand I have long admired as the original among flip-flops. I look forward to elevating the brand to new heights, focusing on consumer importance and operational excellence while staying true to the brand’s core values: infusing the European markets with the vibrancy of Brazilian culture.”
