Haro Bikes hired Ty Buckenberger as senior engineer to develop new bikes as the brand expands into new categories this season.

Buckenberger was, most recently, at Specialized and has a long history working in engineering and product development for brands including Felt Bicycles and Santa Cruz Bicycles. Over the past 15 years, he has worked on performance category projects for gravel, mountain, and electric mountain bikes.

Buckenberger will work with Doss Barnes, whom Haro recently promoted to chief operations officer, to develop new models as part of what the brand refers to as its 2.0 launch.

“I could not be more stoked than I am to have Ty on board at Haro,” said Barnes. “His experience, attention to detail and passion for all things with two wheels makes him the perfect person to bring Haro’s new range of performance-driven products to life. Expect to see his work in real life in spring 2024.”

“Like a lot of people, I have been a fan of the brand forever. I had my first Haro in the ‘80s in high school,” said Buckenberger. “Talking to Doss and hearing about what he has been working on and how Haro wanted to reinvent the brand, it just seemed like a great opportunity. I am excited about the freedom I have here to work on truly innovating and developing performance bikes and taking the Haro brand into more premium territory.”

Buckenberger is based in Bend, OR, where he can reportedly test new Haro bikes on gravel roads and XC mountain bike trails.
