Golf Rounds Played Slip in July

Golf rounds played were down 0.3 percent in July 2015 compared to July 2014, according to Golf Datatech. Regional gains came the Pacific, up 5.1 percent; New England, 5.4 percent; East North Central, 2.1 percent; Mountain, 1.5 percent; and Mid Atlantic, 0.7 percent.

Declines were seen in West North Central, down 7.7 percent; South Central, 6.7 percent; and South Atlantic, 0.8 percent.

Public access play was up 0.2 percent and private course activity was down 2.3 percent.

For the year-to-date period, golf rounds played are up 0.4 percent.

There were 3435 contributing golf courses used in this report.

According to Golf DataTech, golf rounds played in the U.S. were down 0.5 percent in July. Public
access play was up 0.8 percent and private course activity was down 5.7
percent. There were
3820 contributing golf courses used in this report.

By region, the biggest decline came in South Central, down 3.2 percent; South Atlantic, 2.9 percent; and New England, 1.1 percent. Gains were seen in all  other regions. Pacific was up 0.9 percent; Mountain, 0.5 percent; East North Central, 1.4 percent; and Mid Atlantic, 0.2 percent.
