According to Golf Datatech, golf rounds for the US were down 1.7 percent during July compared to July 2010.  Public access play was down 1.6 percent for the month and private course activity was down 2.0 percent.  
 
A total of 3715 courses are represented in the report.

By region, the biggest decline in the month occurred in the West North Central region, down 6.4 percent, followed by East North Central, down 3.5 percent; Mountain, 1.8 percent; Mid Atlantic, 1.5 percent; South Central, 0.3 percent; and South Atlantic, 0.1 percent.

Regions showing increases were New England, up 3.0 percent; and Pacific, 0.7 percent.

For the year-to-date period, golf rounds played are down 3.7 percent.
